We will host our peer-to-peer discussion luncheon at the University Club. This facilitated lunch will focus on Cybersecurity “Small Business, Big Threat.”
Small businesses are at risk for cyber-attacks. In fact, small businesses are more vulnerable in many ways. This presentation will cover why cybersecurity is important, multiple cybersecurity concepts, including how to cyber secure your business, and examine different everyday cyber scenarios. This presentation will address some of the most common areas for concern and action for small business owners.” We will also discuss the importance of insurance coverage as part of your cyber security plan.
Meet your facilitators: Scott Taber, Michigan SBDC Cybersecurity Awareness Program Specialist, and Sheila Van Zyle, Founder and “Queen” of Watermark Insurance Services.
Scott Taber, is a cyber-security professional passionate about raising awareness of every day cyber threats and trends.
Scott Taber served as an IT Security Analyst at Ferris State University prior to joining the Michigan SBDC. As an IT Security Analyst, he managed full disk encryption, mobile device management, Office365 security policies, and provided security awareness training through multiple platforms to the different colleges and departments throughout the university. He has also assisted with incident response, vulnerability and risk assessments, data loss prevention, and data security access. With a diverse background, he has gained unique capabilities to support small businesses faced with cyber threats.
Shelia VanZile has extensive knowledge of the insurance industry from the insurance carrier, broker and agency perspectives.
Shelia VanZile’s insurance industry experience spans 25+ years in management and leadership with profit and loss accountability within the property/casualty insurance industry, including sales, marketing, distribution, and underwriting disciplines. Sheila led and managed insurance company operations at the local, regional and national level. This included Regional Insurance Services Practice Leader (Midwest Region) for Marsh USA, Regional Vice President (Western/Northern Michigan Branch) for Citizens Insurance Company, and senior management positions with CNA Companies throughout the Midwest.
