This year, we will begin the Established Division programming with a presentation from Zara Smith, Strategic Programs Manager at GVSU.

Zara will lead us through tools and techniques to establish market trends and analysis by leading industry experts, the importance of financial benchmarking and labor comparisons and an overview of Web presence and activity perception, i.e. Google Analytics. In addition, she will also introduce us to a new analytical tool being launched. This 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm workshop will provide you with tools and tactics to measure your business utilizing the Web.


Zara Smith is responsible for the development, implementation and advancement of key network programs including the Michigan SBDC Export Assistance Program, Small Business, Big Threat cybersecurity awareness program, and a secondary market research assistance program.
Zara’s professional background includes 15+ years of business planning and strategy development, project management and program development, international business, data analytics, technology strategy and market research. Her unique set of skills allows her to work within the complex SBDC network and be able to relate to small business clients.
Zara is a graduate of Grand Valley State University’s M.B.A. program and holds the NASBITE Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP) certification.
